I just got back from getting measured for my tux. Ed’s wedding is coming up, as is his birthday. Along with all the birthdays and holidays that roll around at the end of the year, now would be a real good time to get another job. Hopefully one will fall from the sky and alleviate all my currently dire financial straits. I’m getting sort of excited about the wedding though, and I’m trying to make a speech that’s personal but not cheesy. It can be gay, I guess for this I can get away with it. I think…anyway, enough of that. I’m missing big news left and right, last time it was Ziff Davis & ESPN’s love child of ESPN Video Games Division, and now it’s Capcom and fucking DC in talks of a DC vs. Capcom game? WHAAT? How could I have possibly missed that? Did that salivating over upcoming games distract me from this news? Did the jaw dropping shock of the PS3 price stun me long enough for this news to pass? Did the excitement of hearing that the Wii might possibly bring Nintendo’s sexy back make me somehow overlook the words DC and Capcom in the same sentence? Whatever the case, here’s the goodness as excerpted from the source:

“In non-related E3 news, we heard some buzz from Capcom a deal with DC that was close to completion (as of April 2006). In the original agreement, the first planned game was to be none other than DC vs. Street Fighter. At this point though, the licensing hasn’t been finalized and we aren’t sure whether this it’s at a halt or is still in the works. We confirmed this news with both sides, Capcom and DC and discussions between the two was/is in the works. We really, really hope this game comes out, because as much as we love Marvel characters, DC characters are our favorites. Batman, Flash, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, yeah, this would be awesome.

We reported two years ago that Capcom was planning on a DC vs. Marvel vs. Capcom and as we know today, this won’t happen only because of the complexity in the legalities between not two, but three companies. Yes, it all comes down to money and the royalties that Marvel charges now because of it’s current high demanded IP’s, it’s not as profitable as it once was.”

I would actually buy this fighting game. Oh, how wonderful this could turn out to be. Man, I haven’t heard anything else about it, so either that’s bad news or it’s just not really worth talking about. Although that really can’t be possible, since this is perhaps the biggest news of my gaming career. Unless somehow Vectorman got involved. And Starcraft. And maybe um..Nintendo. Oh boy, I’m all tingly inside. And I admit that motherfuckin’ freely.
Even if Capcom just did a DC video game..fucks would that be sweet. Imagine a The Question game that looked like Killer 7. THAT would be sweet. Unless it played like Killer 7. Then it wouldn’t be so sweet. But now I’m just daydreaming. Just because Capcom may or may not get the rights to a DC vs. Capcom game, doesn’t mean that they’ll get the rights to any particular DC franchise. But that sure would be sweet. Oh, and if you didn’t know, IP is intellectual property, and basically when Capcom had the rights for Marvel characters way back when, it was when those rights were basically worth a dollar and a dream. Mind you, that was long before Blade. But Sul probably already knew that, since I was sort of directing that last part at him.

Hmm, that was gay. In other comic news, the Marvel Event for 2006 was Civil War. Marvel event for 2007? World War Hulk.

From Newsarama:

Question: This story is Marvel’s big summer blockbuster event for 2007Answer: What is World War Hulk?

NRAMA: Now you’ve promised no major Civil War-type scope events next summer, Joe. Civil War to “World War” sounds pretty big and escalating to us. This still a smaller scale event, or do you need to amend your earlier promises?

JQ: In scope and as to what it means to the Marvel Universe, World War Hulk is every bit as important and huge as Civil War, it’s actually a story that is made possible by the events of Civil War.

However, with respect to the sheer number of tie in titles, this will nothing like Civil War. It’s a giant story but not a giant publishing event so the investment for fans will be minimal and it will be constructed very similar to our past Ultimate Universe events. But, the story will involve almost everyone, will have lots and lots of smashing and will answer some questions once and for all that have been troubling Marvel readers for some time now.

World War Hulk. or “WWH” as I’m sure we’ll be calling it will be written by Greg Pak and drawn by John Romita Jr. and will be shipping in May. More details to come!

Fucks, that’s some sweet news too. Although I know that this won’t nearly be as marketable as or as all-inclusive as Civil War, I hope this book does tie-in to other books. If only because it’s the fuckin’ Hulk.

Oh yeah, and I’m back on Xbox live,
Future (I still gotta rave about Snakes on a Plane) out
